I have a Turtle Beach x12 and I've been using it for my PC since it came out. Recently I began getting a lot of crackling from the headset. It isn't rhythmic or anything, just random crackle even when there is no volume playing. It all started after I moved my computer 3 feet from it's original position.

Because I had a warranty I went ahead and got the headset replaced and the crackling persisted. It crackles even when the audio in isn't plugged in, and I've tried to change USB ports and it still crackles. I've seen that this could be caused by my motherboard, but I wanted to make sure and try everything before getting that replaced. Lastly I opened my computer and sprayed air on the motherboard and it helped for a couple days.Specs:Z77A-GD80 motherboard7950 GPUI5 3570k Processorand I've updated all my drivers. You might be able to clean the jack to fix that. You certainly don't need to buy a whole new motherboard as you could simply buy a sound-card and add it into your machine to fix this.Sometimes the crackle happens because the Op-amp has blown and is introducing noise onto the output channels.

Sometimes it is just a dirty headphone input. If you are getting the cracking on your speakers without your headphones plugged in, then you likely have a Op-amp issue in the onboard audio device and a new sound card will fix this. If the crackle only happens in your headphones, either the cable is cracked/pinched or the headphone input jack is dusty/dirty or your headphones also have an inline amplifier/bass-boost amplifier which has likely gone bad or has blown. If I had around a $50 budget for one?
