Greetings, I have been given a group of Hyper-V SQL Servers created from a base image, this base image is Windows 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 R2 installed. As part of this base image, IIS has been installed. From a surface area and security perspective,I would like to remove IIS but have had a difficult time finding anything official on how to do so. The server(s) will strictly be used for SQL Server, no ftp or other IIS features will be used. Anyone have a link to supply that will show what needs to bedone to remove IIS?Thanks. Hello,Have you checked the IIS Net Faq?If you look at item 1 information:The resolution is to completely uninstall WAS before IIS reinstallation:1) Uninstall WAS - Uncheck the whole child options for the parent node 'Windows Process Activation Service' and below.2) Uninstall IIS 7.0.3) Reinstall IIS 7.0.If you use 1) and 2) and not 3)you should now have removed IIS.This does require a restart.The exception for above removal would be you have shared configuration that uses IIS.You then have to remove the shared configuration and do 1) and 2 and not 3).HTHMartin.
